CHEM 677 – Mechanisms and Theory in Organic Chemistry¶
This course focuses on fundamental theories of bonding, conformational analysis, strain and energy, stereochemistry, and a special emphasis on linear free energy relationships. Students will learn formal rules for writing electron pushing mechansisms and learn the experimental procedures required to elucidate mechanisms in the lab including crossover experiments, kinetics, isotope labeling, and other related experiments. Finally, we will cover the rules that govern pericyclic reactions.
CHEM 675 – Special Topics in Organic Chemistry (Physical Organic Chemistr)¶
This special topics course is an extension of the standard CHEM 677 – Mechanisms and Theory in Organic Chemistry course.
